The latest edition, updated and rewritten by the ATA Safety Management Council’s Accident Review Committee, supersedes all previous editions of the Guidelines, and is an essential tool for the standardized recording of fleet motor vehicle accidents and accident experience, and determining accident preventability.

 

These Guidelines meet the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration’s (FMCSA) provisions for the submission of accident preventability determinations in response to safety audits and the determination of safety ratings, and to meet FMCSA provisions for the submission of accident preventability determinations in relation to the application for HazMat safety permits per 49 CFR 385.407(A)(2)(ii).
